‘He Doesn’t Like Real Fights’ – Chingiz Allazov Calls Out Superbon Ahead Of World Title Challenge
Chingiz Allazov is hoping to draw ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Superbon Singha Mawynn into a slugfest when they meet in the main event of ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
Set for this Friday, January 13, in U.S. primetime, their World Title clash is one of the most highly anticipated showdowns in recent memory, thanks in large part to each fighter’s string of sensational victories.
Allazov earned his #1-contender status on the strength of three thrilling performances, winning the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix silver belt in the process.
Superbon, meanwhile, has defeated three legendary strikers – Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Marat Grigorian – during his ONE Championship tenure, capturing and defending his golden belt along the way.
Allazov gives credit to the defending king and what he brings to the table, but he’s ultimately confident in his own abilities and believes his power will make the difference:
“I’m one of the biggest problems for [Superbon]. He knows this.
“He has good timing, he has a good universal style. I have kicks and power over him. He’s a very good fighter but maybe he makes a little mistake here and it’s a big problem in his fight with me.”
While he respects Superbon’s effective kicking and counter-striking game, the Azerbaijani-Belarusian striker is also critical of his opponent’s mentality in the Circle.
More specifically, Allazov believes the Thai superstar hasn’t been willing to engage in high-action brawls.
He said:
“Before, Superbon said to Petrosyan that Petrosyan is not a fighter – that he was a player. I say the same now. For me, Superbon is not a fighter. He’s a player, you know?”
The 29-year-old simply views Superbon’s elusive, backpedaling style as a way to avoid the fight.
However, Allazov hopes that by calling out the World Champion in such a direct way, he’ll provoke him into the type of wild exchange where he excels.
“Chinga” explained:
“He doesn’t like punching. He doesn’t like real fights, you know? He has this clever game plan. He has kicks, kicks, kicks, and after that, maybe he would like the fight.
“Maybe you should talk to him. Chingiz said Superbon doesn’t fight. He doesn’t like a boxing fight. He doesn’t like a power fight.”
Allazov Can’t Wait For Action After Months Of Anticipation
Chingiz Allazov is chomping at the bit to brawl with Superbon for good reason. The two were already scheduled to fight on two occasions – first at ONE on Prime Video 2 and then at ONE on Prime Video 5.
However, illness and injury caused a pair of postponements that led to an eight-month layoff for both men.
Each of them last competed in March 2022 at ONE X, where “Chinga” won the Grand Prix Championship and Superbon defended his belt against Grigorian. Following that epic event, Allazov immediately began preparing for his highly anticipated World Title challenge.
The Gridin Gym athlete said:
“After Sitthichai, we started preparing. We start training. Maybe like eight, maybe more than eight months, we waited for this day.”
According to Allazov, all that waiting, anticipation, and months upon months of hard work have only sharpened his focus.
And he knows he’ll need every bit of that concentration when he steps into the Circle across the world’s top pound-for-pound kickboxer.
“Chinga” added:
“Now I am more focused on this fight. This is one of the best fighters in the world. People waited for this, and I waited for this. My team waited for this. My coach waited for this. I like this day. Mentally, I’m ready for this fight.”
