‘He’s In Trouble’ – George Jarvis Seeks Revenge Over Mouhcine Chafi, Looks To Enter World Title Picture

Surging British striker George “G-Unit” Jarvis is ready to earn revenge against a former foe and announce himself as a legitimate World Title contender this Friday, April 4 in U.S. primetime at ONE Fight Night 30: Kryklia vs. Knowles on Prime Video.
That night, he’ll square off with accomplished Spanish-Moroccan star Mouhcine “The Assassin” Chafi in a pivotal lightweight Muay Thai scrap at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
After three straight wins at ONE Friday Fights, capped off by a highlight-reel stoppage of Rungrawee Sitsongpeenong, Jarvis secured a spot on ONE’s global roster and a coveted six-figure contract.
Now, as he prepares for his hotly anticipated U.S. primetime debut, he hopes to make a statement against the hard-hitting Chafi, who owns a victory outside of ONE over “G-Unit.”
The 24-year-old spoke to onefc.com about the pair’s previous fight:
“This is a rematch. We fought in 2021 in Barcelona on a home show of his. He beat me on points, which was debatable with the hometown decision. But it was a bad weight cut, the fight was at 2 a.m., but he beat me nonetheless.
“It was a rubbish fight, and this is some revenge for me.”
Biased judging and difficult conditions aside, Jarvis said that he’s improved by leaps and bounds since his first clash with Chafi.
In fact, he believes that he still hasn’t shown his full potential — even in his trio of thrilling victories over top-flight competition in ONE.
Chafi, he said, is in for a surprise this Friday:
“If he thinks I’m the same fighter that I was back then, he’s in trouble. Even if he’s looking at my fights in ONE, they’re still not me at my best.
“I’ve got a lot more to give. I got the knockout last time, and I should’ve gotten it every time beforehand. That’s how I look at my fights. I’ve improved a lot since we last met, and he’s going to find that out.”
After already sharing the ring with him once, Jarvis has a certain amount of respect for the ultra-aggressive Chafi, who is a WBC Muay Thai World Champion but will now be competing with his back against the wall after dropping back-to-back fights against former ONE World Title challengers.
However, the Lumpinee Crawley representative has identified a clear path to victory against “The Assassin” and is confidently predicting a knockout at ONE Fight Night 30:
“[He is a] great fighter. He comes out aggressive and I know he’s going to meet me in the middle of the ring. Unfortunately for him, he leaves too many gaps in his game. He’s good on the front foot but he leaves his chin up in the air and slacks in his defense. That’s only going to get you so far, especially in small gloves.
“Without spoiling too much of the game plan, he’s going to be in for a hard night. And when I connect, I think it’s going to be lights out.”
Jarvis Believes A World Title Shot Is Near
More than just revenge on his mind, George Jarvis thinks he could be knocking on the door of a ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title shot if he’s able to get past Mouhcine Chafi.
With Regian “The Immortal” Eersel and Alexis “Barboza” Nicolas facing off in a highly anticipated trilogy match in the ONE Fight Night 30 main event to determine the fate of the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title, there is a need for fresh contenders.
“G-Unit” said that he might be the next man up:
“If I beat Chafi, I think it could put me in the top three. The only person I see above me is Sinsamut [Klinmee] because he’s beaten good people in the division. I still believe he’s one of the best in the division.
“There’s been a few talks already, saying if I win this I could get a title shot. So I’m committed here, I know I’m not too far away from my goal.”
Although his tenure on the global stage is only just beginning, Jarvis finds confidence in the fact that he fought his way to this opportunity, grinding out tough wins at ONE Friday Fights.
Being recognized for his efforts and abilities, he said, has given him an extra bit of motivation to live up to the hype and belief that a crack at gold could be right around the corner:
“I’d say the recognition has been good for me. I always knew I could achieve these things, but when you do, it makes you want it even more. It shows you that all the hard work you’ve put in over the years has paid off.
“It’s a bit of a spark. It’s encouraged me to keep pushing on towards that World Title shot. That’s the end goal, and I don’t feel like I’m too far away from that.”
