‘I’m Ready To Rumble’ – Muangthai Fired Up For Return, Prepared To Trade Shots With Liam Harrison

“Elbow Zombie” Muangthai PK.Saenchai has found his fire, and he’s ready to deliver a career-defining performance.

This Friday, 22 April, the Thai striking dynamo will go toe-to-toe with British slugger Liam “Hitman” Harrison in a bantamweight Muay Thai contest at ONE 156: Eersel vs. Sadikovic in Singapore, and he’s determined to maintain his flawless run in ONE Championship.

“This is an important fight for me because it is the first fight on the global stage after my absence, so I want to show my best in my return to the Circle.”

Muangthai told onefc.com

As confident as he is, Muangthai admits that the past couple of years have been tough.

The COVID-19 pandemic, combined with the tight restrictions in Thailand, forced “Elbow Zombie” to hit the pause button on his career for the past 24 months. In fact, many fans thought he had retired for good.

However, the Thai veteran used the time away from competition as an opportunity to recharge and rediscover his form, and he feels like he’s flourished through the uncertain times.

“Apart from the COVID-19 crisis, I felt so exhausted and drained after many fights I did before. You know, my style is aggressive. I lost a lot of power and energy, and I had no time to recover. So, I thought that it was a good opportunity that I would take a long break to rest and recover.

“Now, the situation in Muay Thai [has gotten] better, so I want to come back, and my boss wants me to return to the ring as well. He told me to prepare myself and train regularly during the break just in case. And now, my body is good, and the situation is favorable. It’s time for me to return. I’m ready to rumble.”

Muangthai Admits Liam Harrison Won’t Be An Easy Assignment

Muangthai PK.Saenchai has been phenomenal in his career. The former multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion owns a 200-42-4 overall record, and he is 3-0 in ONE Championship’s all-striking league, ONE Super Series.

Despite that, “Elbow Zombie” understands that Liam Harrison will be the toughest opponent he’s faced in the promotion.

Muangthai said:

“From my research, his strengths are leg kicks and punch combinations. But I’ve noticed that he is afraid of elbows. He is always surprised when he is hit by an elbow.”

The 28-year-old Thai has made a name for himself due to his spectacular elbow knockouts, and he utilized that limb in victories over the likes of Panicos Yusuf, Kenta Yamada, and former ONE World Title challenger Brice Delval.

If all goes according to plan, Muangthai will stop “Hitman” with his signature technique to earn his fourth victory in ONE Super Series.

“If he decides to trade with me and if I don’t miss, I may have a chance to knock him out. From his videos, he has a weakness that cannot be revealed. I will be prepared to deal with him in many ways.

“If he goes toe-to-toe with me, I may have a chance to finish him with my elbow.”
