‘It’s Special’ – Shadow Recaps Monumental Win Over Sitthichai At ONE Friday Fights 92

The main event of ONE Friday Fights 92 saw surging Thai phenom Shadow Singha Mawynn pick up the most significant result of his career and announce himself as a key player in the talent-packed featherweight Muay Thai division.

On December 20, the 24-year-old earned a unanimous decision win over #3-ranked featherweight Muay Thai contender and legendary striker Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand

That dazzling performance extended Shadow’s winning streak to four, further solidified him as one of the sport’s most dangerous young talents, and put a cap on his breakout 2024.

The Thai spoke to onefc.com after the fight:

“I’m very happy that I got the victory, and it’s a victory at the end of the year. So, it’s special.”

After suffering a defeat in his promotional debut in February, Shadow has enjoyed a meteoric rise in ONE, showcasing his unique blend of clean technique and explosive power.

Against Sitthichai, he started slowly but quickly picked up the aggression with heavy kicks and forward pressure. Then, in the third and final round, Shadow dropped his iconic opponent with a massive right hand to stamp his name on the judges’ decision.

The Singha Mawynn representative recapped his career-best victory:

“When the first round ended, my corner was saying that I needed to speed up, that I needed to pick up the pace.

“In the second round, I think that I did well. And in the third round, I got the knockdown, so that sealed my victory.”

It’s difficult to overstate the magnitude of Shadow’s victory at ONE Friday Fights 92.

After all, Sitthichai is a former eight-time Kickboxing and Muay Thai World Champion who is currently ranked top-five in ONE’s featherweight kickboxing and Muay Thai divisions.

Despite winning the fight, Shadow was quick to credit the veteran’s warrior spirit. Like many fans watching around the world, he was shocked to see “Killer Kid” continue competing after eating the jaw-crushing right hand in the third round:

“I think the most surprising thing is how strong his heart is. Because he got [caught with] my right punch, but then he was still able to get up.”

Shadow Hopes To Inspire Youth With His Journey

Shadow Singha Mawynn’s victory over Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong was a huge step toward becoming a global superstar. Like any other world-class fighter, he dreams of fame, acclaim, and 26 pounds of ONE Championship gold.

However, Shadow said his motivation to achieve greatness stems from something bigger:

“I just hope that I can be an inspiration and a role model to younger people – that you can just do sport and not be involved in other things [that get you into trouble].”

Shadow comes from humble beginnings in rural Thailand. He began training Muay Thai as a child to help his family put food on the table and escape poverty.

He now hopes to spread the gospel of Muay Thai and use his story to inspire others in similar situations:

“I just want people to pick this up as a hobby or see that this could be a career for them, as well. I just want to show young people that this is possible.”
