John Wayne Parr Accepts Challenge From Nieky Holzken
After finishing his 2020 season with a stunning body shot knockout of Elliot “The Dragon” Compton, #1-ranked lightweight kickboxing contender Nieky “The Natural” Holzken began 2021 with a massive callout.
In an Instagram post, Holzken threw out a challenge to striking legend John Wayne “The Gunslinger” Parr.
Parr’s name is synonymous with Muay Thai and kickboxing.
The Australian has won 10 World Championships throughout his storied career, and he can’t wait to make his debut on the global stage.
Holzken began his challenge by noting that Parr had called him his dream opponent. That was all the incentive “The Natural” needed to call his shot for 2021.
“Hey, John Wayne Parr, a few years ago, I heard in an interview that your dream fight was against me,” the Dutchman wrote. “Now we are in the same organization, ONE Championship, so if you want, we can let your dream come true.”
True to form, the Aussie superstar quickly accepted the challenge. He replied to his potential rival by saying, “Full Thai rules,” to which Holzken promptly agreed.
The exchange captured the attention of some of the biggest names in the martial arts industry, with two ONE World Champions noting their excitement in the comments section.
“Oooowowwweeeeee, this is gonna be lit!” ONE Heavyweight World Champion Brandon “The Truth” Vera wrote. And ONE Light Heavyweight World Champion Aung La “The Burmese Python” N Sang commented, “I want to see this!”
There’s no doubt this matchup would be a show-stealing affair, and fans could be in store for a historic year of ONE Super Series action.
