Johnson is considered the greatest mixed martial artist of all time – and for good reason.
The American entered ONE Championship in October 2018 as a 12-time Flyweight World Champion with a reputation for dominating his opponents.
And so far, he’s lived up to the hype in The Home Of Martial Arts.
In his promotional debut, “Mighty Mouse” submitted #4-ranked flyweight contender Yuya “Little Piranha” Wakamatsu. He then defeated DEEP Flyweight Champion Tatsumitsu “The Sweeper” Wada and #2-ranked contender Danny “The King” Kingad to claim the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Title.
That victory earned Johnson the tournament’s prestigious silver belt and a shot at the reigning ONE Flyweight World Champion, but winning the gold won’t be easy.
After all, Moraes is arguably the most dominant flyweight in ONE Championship history and will be the toughest test yet for “Mighty Mouse.”
The Brazilian, who has never been finished in his entire career, has defeated several of the division’s top names, including Kingad, #3-ranked Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov, and former titleholder Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio.
Also, Moraes co-holds the record for most flyweight victories in ONE history (nine), and he owns the records for most submission wins in the flyweight division (six) and most ONE Flyweight World Title victories (six).
