Jonathan Haggerty To Battle Fabricio Andrade For Vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title
A blockbuster champion-versus-champion World Title fight is headed to ONE Fight Night 15: Tawanchai vs. Superbon on Prime Video.
On Friday, October 6, live in U.S. primetime, reigning ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion Jonathan “The General” Haggerty battles bantamweight MMA kingpin Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade for the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title.
The matchup pits two of the organization’s most dominant and fan-friendly scrappers against each other in a five-round kickboxing bout that has fireworks written all over it.
After suffering a pair of crushing World Title defeats against Rodtang Jitmuangnon in 2019 and 2020, Haggerty has since moved up in weight and soared back to the top of the Muay Thai world, winning four in a row on his way to capturing Muay Thai gold.
“The General” won the World Title in April at ONE Fight Night 9 when he scored a stunning first-round knockout over longtime titleholder and Muay Thai legend Nong-O Hama.
He now looks to keep that momentum going and solidify himself as one of the planet’s top pound-for-pound strikers in his first kickboxing bout in ONE Championship.
But standing in his way of two-sport glory is the explosive Brazilian finisher in Andrade.
Widely regarded as one of MMA’s most dangerous strikers, the 25-year-old sensation claimed the ONE Bantamweight World Title in February with a shellacking of rival John Lineker.
And while “Wonder Boy” is best known for his prodigious accomplishments in the MMA world – including six victories and five finishes in ONE – he boasts an impressive 43-fight resume in professional Muay Thai and kickboxing.
Like Haggerty, this will be Andrade’s first kickboxing appearance in ONE.
For each man, this massive showdown on October 6 represents not only the chance to become a two-sport World Champion, but also to establish himself as a true combat sports icon.
