‘Just Awesome To Watch’ – Alyse Anderson Wowed By Teammate Adriano Moraes Ahead Of Demetrious Johnson Trilogy Fight
On May 5, American atomweight Alyse Anderson will compete alongside her American Top Team training partner Adriano Moraes at the biggest ONE Championship event of the year.
Before Moraes challenges rival Demetrious Johnson in the main event of ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video, Anderson will go toe-to-toe with Thai superstar Stamp Fairtex on the same card – ONE’s historic debut on United States soil.
Like countless fans around the globe, the woman known as “Lil’ Savage” is beyond excited to watch Moraes and Johnson duke it out in their highly anticipated ONE Flyweight World Title fight at 1stBank Center in Colorado.
But unlike those fans, Anderson has an inside view of “Mikinho’s” training and preparation for this massive trilogy bout.
She says the former flyweight king possesses a true World Champion’s work ethic, training at an absurd clip whether he has a fight booked or not.
Anderson told ONEFC.com:
“Adriano is always in the gym and always preparing, even if he doesn’t have a fight camp. He’s someone that lives in the gym, and he can just go at that rate for months on end. He’s just awesome to watch because his pace is just like, being able to do four or five classes a day, in and out of fight camp, is crazy to me.”
Anderson believes Moraes’ grueling training schedule will ultimately pay dividends against Johnson.
In addition to his size and submission expertise, she expects her teammate will hold a stamina advantage over “Mighty Mouse” – something that could play a key factor in Colorado’s elevation.
“Lil’ Savage” said:
“Probably his length and his grappling. I think his endurance, too, because this is five rounds, right? Because it’s for the belt. I think with the elevation, and just like his endurance, he’s going to be able to really push the pace in the later rounds.”
With those critical advantages, Anderson predicts that Moraes will finish Johnson and regain the ONE Flyweight World Title he lost in their previous meeting:
“I see Adriano getting a late-round submission.”
Alyse Anderson Says A Finish Will Be Key To Moraes’ Victory
While Alyse Anderson has plenty of faith in Adriano Moraes, she can’t deny the serious threats posed by Demetrious Johnson.
Widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, “Mighty Mouse” is an incredibly well-rounded fighter who’s capable of getting the job done on the feet or the canvas.
Anderson respects the reigning flyweight king’s striking prowess but is more concerned with his wrestling and smothering top game, which she believes could give her teammate problems.
For that reason, she says, Moraes will be aiming to end the fight early:
“Yeah, [Johnson’s] got a lot of power in his hands. Also his wrestling, I think that Adriano is probably going to want to get a finish because he’s not going to want to get laid down by Demetrious’ wrestling. If he can shut down Adriano’s grappling, he doesn’t want to get laid down and beat up for five rounds.”
