Khan came charging out of his corner in round one ready to engage with the man from Japan, but the ONE Warrior Series contract winner immediately closed the distance, secured the clinch, and drove the 25-year-old into the fence.
It was a strategy he said he would use to negate his former training partner’s knockout power, and it worked to perfection.
Once on the fence, Eto tripped Khan to the canvas, then jumped into full mount. As the Singaporean Muay Thai Champion tried to escape, the Tokyo resident took his opponent’s back and sunk in the match-ending rear-naked choke at 1:39 of the opening round.
The win was Eto’s seventh submission victory of his career and improved his record to 17-5-2.
