‘Let’s See How He Does’ – Akbar Abdullaev Eager To Test Halil Amir In Battle Of Undefeated Rising Stars
Akbar “Bakal” Abdullaev is ready for the toughest match of his MMA career, and it comes against Turkish juggernaut Halil “No Mercy” Amir in U.S. primetime on Friday, May 3.
The unbeaten duo will meet in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 22: Sundell vs. Diachkova on Prime Video, and what makes this highly anticipated clash so riveting is the fact that both men own flawless 10-0 slates and jaw-dropping finishing rates.
Given their respective resumes, fans are expecting a riveting battle when the two featherweights meet at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand – and Abdullaev plans on delivering it for them.
So far, the Kyrgyz dynamo hasn’t let the global fan base down, and he doesn’t plan on starting anytime soon.
Abdullaev said:
“Everything is interesting about this fight. It will be a puncher against another puncher. We are both undefeated with a strong fighting character, and we both give great shows.”
Abdullaev has looked spectacular in his promotional tenure, as he knocked out South Korean sensation Oh Ho Taek in 44 seconds and previously unbeaten Ecuadorian star Aaron Canarte in just 41 to keep his 100 percent finishing rate alive.
However, “Bakal” recognizes the danger standing in the opposite corner. Amir has finished nine of his 10 opponents, with eight of those victories coming via KO.
The 26-year-old also knows his upcoming rival has been training in Dagestan under MMA legend Khabib Nurmagomedov in preparation of their battle, so he expects to face the best version of “No Mercy” when the opening bell rings.
Abdullaev said:
“My first impression of him is that he is a good fighter. He is agile, moves well, and is a good puncher.
“I think preparing at Khabib’s training camp will give him confidence, so he will be more dangerous. He was born in Kyrgyzstan, so he is tough. Let’s see how he does when he moves down to our division.”
Akbar Abdullaev Wants To Maintain Unbeaten Slate And Go For Gold
Akbar Abdullaev may think highly of fellow undefeated star Halil Amir, but he believes he has the talent and ability to ruin the Turkish athlete’s spotless record.
The Kyrgyzstan native says his fight IQ and positive mindset have been the keys to his success, and he is confident it will lead him to victory once again at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium on May 3.
Abdullaev offered:
“My most dangerous weapon is a good attitude and knowledge. You’ll see Amir’s weaknesses in the ring.
“My prediction for the fight is always the same – the ring will be the judge. Whoever forces his style on the match will win.”
Given the rapid upward trajectory of Abdullaev and Amir, there will be a lot of interested parties tuning in to their explosive battle at ONE Fight Night 22.
Whichever man leaves the ring with their unblemished record still intact will raise their stock massively – a fact that is not lost on “Bakal” in his hunt for Tang Kai’s ONE Featherweight MMA World Title.
Abdullaev said:
“It is very important for me to stay undefeated. There is a demand for undefeated fighters. I joined this organization to be the best. After this fight, I want a chance to fight for the belt against the World Champion!”
