Luke Lessei To Debut Against Jo Nattawut At ONE Fight Night 17; Niclas Larsen Out With Injury
ONE Fight Night 17 on Prime Video is rapidly taking shape, and the U.S. primetime card on December 8 has now seen a shakeup.
Danish standout Niclas “Dreamchaser” Larsen has pulled out of his scheduled featherweight Muay Thai showdown against Thai veteran “Smokin” Jo Nattawut due to injury.
As a result, promotional newcomer Luke “The Chef” Lessei is stepping in to face Nattawut at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The highly touted American striker will bring a dynamic and entertaining style of fighting that emphasizes movement, unpredictability, and ruthless finishing instincts.
The 27-year-old’s style – coupled with his 6-foot-1-inch frame and natural physical gifts – make him a real threat in the talent-laden featherweight Muay Thai division.
However, Lessei will face the stiffest test of his career in “Smokin” Jo.
Widely regarded as one of the striking world’s heaviest hitters, Nattawut boasts no shortage of big accomplishments across his 83-fight professional career, but he still has his sights set on a ONE World Title.
After winning five of his first seven bouts in the organization, the 34-year-old finds himself on a three-fight losing skid – although those defeats came against pound-for-pound stars like featherweight Muay Thai king Tawanchai PK Saenchai and ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov.
Nattawut will now look to re-assert himself among the division’s elite, and he knows a win over the dangerously talented American at ONE Fight Night 17 would be a huge feather in his cap.
By that same token, “The Chef” could become an instant contender with a victory against such a respected and feared veteran.
