Major Bouts Added To ONE: HEART OF THE LION
One of the biggest martial arts spectacles of the year just got a little more star power.
The card for ONE: HEART OF THE LION already featured a pair of World Champion versus World Champion Super-Bouts, and now a star-studded supporting cast has been added to the blockbuster event in Singapore on Friday, 9 November.
In the main event, ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee (9-0) will move up a division to challenge ONE Women’s Strawweight World Champion “The Panda” Xiong Jing Nan (16-1) for her title.
The co-main event will see ONE Bantamweight World Champion Bibiano “The Flash” Fernandes (22-3) face ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon (19-5) in a World Title unification rematch.
The main and co-main events are spectacular, and now they are joined by a stacked undercard at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The Return Of Giorgio Petrosyan
One of the world’s greatest kickboxers will meet a Muay Thai superstar in Singapore.
Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan (97-2-2, 1 NC) is scheduled to face Sorgraw Petchyindee Academy (37-17) in a ONE Super Series kickboxing affair, which will be contested at a catch weight of 72 kilograms.
Petrosyan, a two-time K-1 World Max Champion, made an unforgettable promotional debut in April when he defeated “Smokin’” Jo Nattawut at ONE: HEROES OF HONOR.
He will carry that momentum to Singapore when he clashes with Sorgraw, a Lumpinee Stadium World Champion who beat France’s Samy “AK47” Sana in his first ONE appearance in June.
A Battle Between Grappling Specialists
Five-time EBI Grappling Champion Garry “The Lion Killer” Tonon (2-0) has made a smooth transition into mixed martial arts.
Ever since making his professional debut in March, the American has finished two opponents.
Now, he is set to collide with Sung Jong Lee (4-2), a NAGA No-Gi Grappling Champion who trains out of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu Korea.
This bout will be contested at featherweight, which is the first time either man has competed in this division.
Top Strawweight Contenders Set To Clash
While the ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title will be on the line in the main event, this undercard bout features two of the division’s most talented contenders.
Hometown favorite Tiffany “No Chill” Teo (7-1) will look to please the local crowd when she faces eight-time BJJ World Champion Michelle Nicolini (5-1).
This will be Teo’s first bout since the division’s inaugural World Title match in January. She makes her return against Nicolini, who is considered one of the best women’s Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners on the planet.
Four More Mixed Martial Arts Bouts
That is just the tip of the iceberg as there will be a few more thrilling mixed martial arts contests on the bill.
Adrian “The Hunter” Pang (22-12-2) is always in exciting battles thanks to his granite chin, heavy hands, and come-forward style. The hard-hitting Australian will square off against Japan’s Kota “Kong” Shimoishi (21-6) in a lightweight contest.
“Jungle Cat” Muhammad Aiman (5-2) returns with plenty of confidence after picking up the biggest win of his career against previously undefeated warrior “Rock Man” Chen Lei in September.
He puts his three-bout win streak up against Japan’s Shuya “Stealth” Kamikubo (8-1-1), who impressed in his promotional debut by stopping bantamweight contender “The Terminator” Sunoto in July.
“The Stalker” Xie Bin (5-2) is emerging as a contender in the bantamweight division, too. He will try to extend his four-bout win streak when he meets Asian boxing champion Hisyam “Zephyrus” Samsudin (2-3).
Also, there will be an exciting flyweight tilt between promotional newcomer Abro Fernandes (7-0) and veteran Chan Rothana (4-3).
Fernandes is an Indonesian bantamweight champion who is moving down a weight class for his promotional debut. He draws a tough challenge in the ONE Cambodia Featherweight Grand Prix Finalist, who expects to have more success in the lighter division.
