Miado Continues Mastery Over Miao With TKO Win In Rematch
Jeremy “The Jaguar” Miado promised a new version of himself in his long-awaited return to the ONE Championship Circle, and he came back as a true force to be reckoned with in the strawweight mixed martial arts division.
The Filipino looked sharp and lethal as he continued his mastery over Miao Li Tao, scoring a dominant second-round TKO in their rematch at ONE: NEXTGEN, which emanated from the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday, 29 October.
It was another impressive outing for “The Jaguar,” who knocked out Miao with a spectacular flying knee in their first encounter two years ago.
The 28-year-old utilized his reach advantage early on, sticking stiff jabs in the Chinese athlete’s face while mixing in occasional body shots, leg kicks, and hooks.
An accidental low blow on Miado temporarily halted the match, but that didn’t stop his momentum. Following the restart, he threw a beautiful jab-straight combo that rocked the Sunkin International Fight Club standout.
Now feeling it on the feet, the Filipino looked for the same jumping knee that finished Miao in their first match. The Chinese fighter was ready for it this time, but he wasn’t prepared for his opponent’s nonstop aggression.
The round ended with Miado continuing to work his jab, and while Miao was able to land a couple of counter left hooks, it was the Filipino who headed to the break with confidence.
With Miao showing his willingness to keep the fight standing in the second frame, Miado quickly made him pay.
A lightning-quick left hook stunned the Chinese athlete, and while he protested that it was an eye poke, referee Justin Brown deemed it a legal punch. With that, Miado instantly pounced on his foe.
A hard straight right followed by a thunderous hook to the body left Miao scurrying. He turned his back on Miado, who unleashed one more flurry of strikes until Roberts called off the fight just 50 seconds into the second round.
The TKO win marks Miado’s fourth stoppage victory in The Home of Martial Arts, and perhaps now he will get his wish and face a top-five strawweight in his next outing.
