Mikey Musumeci Draws New Challenger For ONE Fight Night 6; Full Card Released
The main card for ONE Championship’s first live event of 2023 is now officially set, but there have been some major changes to previously announced bouts for Friday, January 13.
ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion Mikey Musumeci was originally scheduled to make his first World Title defense against Sayan Khertek at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, but the Russian has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
Instead, “Darth Rigatoni” will face Gantumur Bayanduuren, a dangerous Mongolian grappler who recently won gold at the 2022 Sambo World Championships.
Musumeci isn’t the only athlete who will be competing against a new opponent on the main card.
Superlek Kiatmoo9 and Daniel Puertas will now co-headline the show in a clash for the vacant ONE Flyweight Kickboxing World Title, which was vacated by former king Ilias Ennahachi.
As a result, Thai megastar Rodtang Jitmuangnon will battle Jiduo Yibu instead of Puertas in a flyweight kickboxing encounter.
Additionally, former two-division king Aung La N Sang was slated to meet Chinese dynamo Fan Rong, but the latter has withdrawn from the middleweight MMA bout after having tested positive for COVID-19.
Aung La N Sang will now take on Brazilian juggernaut Gilberto Galvao in a 215-pound catchweight affair at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
Kicking off the seven-fight main card will be #2-ranked featherweight contender Garry Tonon, who returns to MMA action for the first time since falling short in his ONE Featherweight World Title challenge last March.
“The Lion Killer” will look to build some momentum toward a second crack at the divisional gold, and he will get the chance to restart his World Title campaign in front of a U.S. primetime audience.
Tonon will square off against fellow American Johnny Nunez, who moves down from the lightweight division and begins anew in his more natural weight class.

Those bouts feature the highly anticipated Muay Thai rematch between Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak and Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva, as well as a catchweight MMA showdown between South Korea’s Kim Jae Woong and Japan’s Shoko Sato.
