National Pride Is On The Line For Indonesia's Rudy Agustian In Jakarta
If current form is anything to go by, Rudy “The Golden Boy” Agustian might be the most likely athlete at ONE: FOR HONOR to make the fans in Jakarta, Indonesia jump out of their seats.
The 33-year-old from Tangerang has had a perfect start to life in ONE Championship with three consecutive wins – including two first-round submissions – in four months.
That hot streak has seen the Golden Camp and Pitbull Academy representative emerge one of the athletes to watch at flyweight, and another win could put him in a position to challenge some of his division’s best.

The 33-year-old will face a dangerous opponent in the form of Cambodia’s Chan Rothana, but he is confident of improving his record on the global stage for martial arts to 4-0 – especially because he will be cheered on by the fans at the Istora Senayan.
“I am excited to perform my best at this next bout. This is actually my first time going into the ring in front of my home audience,” he explains.
“I believe that I will win this bout, especially in front of my supporters here in Jakarta.”
Before Agustian entered The Home Of Martial Arts, he emerged as an Indonesian flyweight champion with four wins that included three by way of knockout.
That was no surprise from a man whose specialty is Muay Thai, but his bouts have taken on a different complexion in ONE.
“Golden Boy” has been happy to show off some of his striking skills in the Circle, but his grappling has been his most important weapon so far. He believes that may be the case against Rothana, too.

“I will perform at my very best – throwing everything I have into the bout to secure victory. I have studied my opponent and found out that he is strong with his striking – especially his kicks.
“However, he also has a weakness in his takedown defense and ground game, which I will take advantage of.”
Besides his own advancement in ONE and giving the Indonesian faithful something to cheer, there is one more thing that motivates Agustian heading into ONE: FOR HONOR.
His upcoming opponent has a win over one of “Golden Boy’s” compatriots, and he is eager to get a victory back to restore his nation’s honor on the global stage.

“I think this bout will be a very interesting one for the audience. Chan once knocked out Abro Fernandes, so he is a strong and dangerous fighter,” he says.
“However, I have also knocked out a Cambodian competitor in the past, so I think this would be a true proving ground to see which fighter is better – from Cambodia, or from Indonesia.”
