ONE Warrior Series Unearths New Talent At Team Lakay
Rich Franklin’s ONE Warrior Series (OWS) has taken its search for the next generation of mixed martial arts stars to the Philippines.
The ONE Championship Vice President and his crew recently traveled to Baguio City to visit Team Lakay – a gym that has produced multiple ONE Championship titleholders.
ONE Interim Bantamweight World Champion Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon, ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio, and new ONE Strawweight World Champion Joshua “The Passion” Pacio were all on hand to share their expertise.
These incredible martial artists are among the athletes who have influenced Lito Adiwang, who is the subject of the show’s focus this week.
“I always look upon my seniors, starting with my coach Mark Sangiao, Eduard Folayang, Geje Eustaquio, Honorio Banario, and Kevin Belingon,” he says.
“Being here in ONE Warrior Series is awesome, I’m happy, but I need to train well and improve. My goal is to be the World Champion.”
Adiwang appeared in the show’s first season last year, but was unsuccessful in his efforts to secure a bout at the season finale.
However, after some time away to improve his skills, the strawweight was chosen as a perfect fit for the OWS roster.
Unlike the wushu origins of the other members of Team Lakay, the 25-year-old began with boxing before transitioning to mixed martial arts, and has lit up the cage with a professional record of 6-2.
