Rodtang Dominates Lasiri En Route To Fourth ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Title Defense
If anyone had forgotten how much of a Muay Thai monster Rodtang Jitmuangnon is, he reminded them in the co-main event of ONE on Prime Video 4: Abbasov vs. Lee on November 18.
The ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion terrorized strawweight Muay Thai king Joseph Lasiri on his way to a unanimous decision win at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, retaining his gold and continuing his lengthy reign atop the division.
Lasiri – who is known for making Thai legend Prajanchai PK.Saenchai quit on the stool to earn the strawweight Muay Thai crown – faced an immovable object in Rodtang, who promised the Italian-Moroccan star that he wouldn’t be as easy to put away.
And, indeed, that was the case.
For fifteen minutes “The Iron Man” stalked Lasiri around the Circle, punishing his body with shovel hooks. At one point, he landed a left body hook with so much intent that it wobbled the challenger and seemingly made him second-guess his pre-fight comments.
However, it was a pair of knockdowns that ultimately sealed the victory for Rodtang.
The first eight-count came late in round four when the defending World Champion zapped Lasiri with a right hand, followed by a left jab.
The margin between the two strikers widened further in the final frame after “The Iron Man” starched his foe with an overhand right to score another count.
When the final bell rang, the judges’ scorecards were a mere formality in favor of Rodtang. With the victory, the Thai megastar increased his win count to an impressive 269 and became a five-time ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion.
