Rodtang Jitmuangnon Training To Be A Three-Sport World Champ
ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon has his eyes on even more gold in The Home Of Martial Arts – including the World Title in a brand new sport.
The Bangkok, Thailand resident previously expressed his desire to challenge his division’s kickboxing titleholder Ilias “Tweety” Ennahachi, but he also wants to make a run at the top of the mixed martial arts world, too.
Just like his girlfriend Stamp Fairtex, “The Iron Man” wants to become a three-sport World Champion.
“I got the ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship already, so my next goal is to challenge for the kickboxing belt [against Ennahachi]. I used to fight in this kind of sport already. After that, I would like to try mixed martial arts,” he says.
“I have the Muay Thai base already, so I just have to add the ground game. I have walked the path of being a fighter for a long time, so this isn’t bad for me. Also, I want to prove myself. I want to know how far I can go.”
Rodtang has been quietly training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts for a while now, and recently, over the past week, he was at the Fairtex Training Center in Pattaya, Thailand to elevate his all-around game.
Besides being a training partner to Stamp and Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga, who happens to be the #1-ranked contender for the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Title, he also worked on his grappling with other athletes from the gym’s stable of mixed martial artists.
Currently, there are not any plans for “The Iron Man” to make his debut. However, that could change at some point in the future, especially if he keeps up his winning ways in Muay Thai.
