Rodtang Tests Positive For COVID-19, Removed From ONE: FIRST STRIKE
An unfortunate diagnosis has forced ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon to the sidelines.
During the live broadcast of ONE: REVOLUTION this past Friday, commentators Michael Schiavello and Mitch “The Dragon” Chilson revealed that the Thai megastar tested positive for COVID-19.
Rodtang is fully vaccinated, but he still contracted a breakthrough case.
As a result, “The Iron Man” has been removed from his co-main event clash with Spanish kickboxer Daniel Puertas at ONE: FIRST STRIKE on 15 October.
Though Rodtang has been removed from ONE: FIRST STRIKE, he expects to return for his special rules super-fight with MMA GOAT Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at ONE X on Sunday, 5 December.
The super-fight will consist of four three-minute rounds, which alternate between Muay Thai and mixed martial arts rules.
“The Iron Man” holds a perfect 10-0 record in ONE Super Series. He’s currently the #1-ranked flyweight kickboxing contender in addition to holding the Muay Thai gold.
As for Puertas, he will now collide with Rodtang’s teammate “The Angel Warrior” Panpayak Jitmuangnon in a flyweight kickboxing tilt at ONE: FIRST STRIKE.
