Seksan Opens Up About His New Muay Thai Gym In Thailand Where Kids Train For Free

Yutaro Asahi Seksan Or Kwanmuang ONE Friday Fights 47

Thai fan favorite Seksan “The Man Who Yields To No One” Or Kwanmuang has enjoyed a career resurgence of epic proportions, and he’s using his success in ONE to change lives for the better.

The 35-year-old brawler is now preparing for his highly anticipated debut on American soil, as he’s set to take on British legend Liam “Hitman” Harrison in a catchweight Muay Thai fight on September 6 at ONE 168: Denver at Ball Arena.

Outside of his own training, Seksan recently opened a Muay Thai gym where local children can learn “the art of eight limbs.”

As is customary in Thailand, these young fighters can then compete in Muay Thai for money – and a chance to eventually climb their way out of poverty.

Seksan spoke to onefc.com about his new academy:

“I’ve been running my Muay Thai gym – Sor Seksan Gym – for two to three months now. I used the money I earned from Muay Thai matches and auctioning off boxing shorts and gloves to fund the construction of my Muay Thai gym.

“Currently, we have around 30 kids coming to train at the gym every day. So far, I’ve sent many kids to fight in various local boxing rings. It makes me happy to see the kids use the money they earn to buy snacks or give it to their parents.”

After going undefeated in 2023 with eight unforgettable barnburners, the Thai has firmly established himself as one of the planet’s most electrifying fighters, renowned for his fearless approach and never-say-die attitude.

Despite opening the gym, Seksan hasn’t put his fighting career on hold. With the help of his father and brother, he’s been able to maintain a healthy life as a gym owner, father, and world-class fighter:

“For balancing the three hats, if you think it’s hard, it’s hard, but if you think it’s easy, it’s easy. For me, it’s easy.”

With nearly 300 professional fights on his resume and decades in the sport, the former four-time Muay Thai World Champion has developed a keen eye for talent.

He says that his ultimate goal is to send his gym’s most promising young fighters to Thailand’s capital city, where they can pursue a career and fight at one of the sport’s biggest venues:

“If the kids in the gym are really talented, I intend to send them to compete in Bangkok and join my boss’s gym, Sor Sommai Gym, so that they can compete at Rajadamnern Stadium.”

Why Seksan Provides Free Training

As a multiple-time performance bonus winner and now with a coveted six-figure contract in ONE Championship, Seksan Or Kwanmuang is happy to put his earnings to good use.

To that end, his new gym is entirely free for local children, many of whom had never previously seen the inside of a proper Muay Thai academy.

“The Man Who Yield To No One” explained his motivations for opening Sor Seksan Gym:

“The reason why I provide free training for kids is because I used to see many children in the neighborhood practicing boxing on the streets or in parking lots. I felt sorry for them, so I decided to start a camp to support these kids and provide them with a proper place to train Muay Thai.

“If any child is interested in learning, they can come to the camp. It’s completely free.”
