Shamil Gasanov Vs. Oh Ho Taek Featherweight MMA Contest Scheduled For ONE Fight Night 18
Elite featherweight mixed martial artists Shamil “The Cobra” Gasanov and “Spider” Oh Ho Taek are set to throw down live in U.S. primetime on January 12 at ONE Fight Night 18: Superlek vs. Mahmoudi on Prime Video.
That pivotal contest will go down at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, and it represents each man’s opportunity to bounce back and continue his climb toward the divisional gold.
Currently #4 in ONE’s featherweight MMA rankings, Gasanov arrived at the world’s largest martial arts organization with a pristine 12-0 record and World Championship expectations.
After making quick work of “The Fighting God” Kim Jae Woong in his performance bonus-winning debut, “The Cobra” catapulted himself to a high-stakes showdown with former World Title challenger Garry Tonon.
The 28-year-old sensation would suffer his first career defeat in that clash, stalling his rise on the global stage. He now hopes to remind fans and experts of his prodigious talent – but Oh plans to steal his spot in the top five.
Like Gasanov, “Spider” made a splash in his promotional debut, earning a hard-fought decision over Japanese knockout artist Ryogo “Kaitai” Takahashi. But in his second ONE appearance, the well-rounded South Korean fell against undefeated prodigy Akbar “Bakal” Abdullaev.
Both athletes now find themselves in similar situations – hoping to regain the positive momentum from their impressive starts.
Given that background and each fighter’s proven finishing abilities, fans are in for a hotly contested war at ONE Fight Night 18.
