Stamp Fairtex Picks Alyse Anderson To Beat Victoria Souza In Key Atomweight MMA Fight At ONE 168: Denver

There are numerous blockbuster matchups on the ONE 168: Denver bill, but reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex has her eyes firmly on one fight in particular.

This Friday, September 6, American star Alyse Anderson will face off with surging Brazilian Victoria Souza in a pivotal atomweight MMA showdown at Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

Stamp knows Anderson’s game well, as she defeated “Lil’ Savage” at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on United States soil last year.

The Thai megastar has also been following Souza, who needed only 91 seconds to choke out Japanese sensation Itsuki Hirata in her most recent outing this past June.

Stamp spoke to onefc.com ahead of Friday’s contest:

“I think it’ll be fun. Alyse is motivated because of the defeat, while Victoria is determined
because she’s still a newer competitor. It’ll be an interesting matchup.

“I think Alyse has advantages in strength and speed. Victoria is really good at grappling. I
think those are their main strengths.”

Although she got the better of Anderson in May 2023, Stamp still holds her former foe in high regard.

In fact, she admitted her trepidation at facing Anderson that night, and she feels that the well-rounded American has the tools to rebound against Souza:

“I think Alyse can win and that she’ll be able to dominate the fight. She lost last time, and that should motivate her to win. She’s taller, so she should have a big advantage from longer range.

“I was a bit nervous when I faced her. She looked tough and jacked. I think she’s strong and fast. She’s also really good at striking.”

Stamp Updates Progress In Recovery From Serious Knee Injury

Stamp also provided an update on the serious knee injury that she suffered back in May.

An unfortunate training mishap left the history-making three-sport World Champion with a torn meniscus that required surgery, and she has been working diligently to return.

The 26-year-old said:

“My condition has been better. I can walk normally now. Occasionally, there’s sharp pain.
Overall, it’s better though.

“Rebuilding the lost muscles on my leg is the toughest part. I have to recover as much
muscle as I can after the surgery.”

While she continues her rehabilitation, Stamp has been killing time with family in her native Rayong Province, Thailand.

It’s still too early to speculate on her return to the Circle, but she did reassure fans that she will return to the famous Fairtex Training Center gym in Pattaya sooner than later:

“I’ve been trying to keep myself busy with random stuff like mobile games and jigsaw puzzles. My parents take me out to eat often. I’ve just been spending time with my family.

“I think I’ll return to Fairtex in late October. I’ll try some light training. I can do boxing now.”
