Superbon Narrowly Defeats Sitthichai In Epic Trilogy Bout

Superbon whips a head kick at Sitthichai

In a battle of two debuting superstars looking to settle their trilogy, Superbon left the Thai capital with his hand raised.

On Friday, 31 July, the 29-year-old narrowly defeated his compatriot and longtime rival Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong via unanimous decision in an exciting featherweight kickboxing clash at ONE: NO SURRENDER in Bangkok, Thailand.

The familiar foes, who were making their first ONE Championship appearances, wasted little time. In the bout’s opening seconds, they were attacking each other with high kicks.

Tight defenses prevented both sides from connecting with many clean blows, but each man found moments to score in front of the judges. “Killer Kid” showcased his brilliant step-through knee, while Superbon found a home for his right hook.

Superbon then opened the second round with thudding leg kicks that echoed throughout the arena. Sitthichai came forward with another signature step-through knee, but his Thai countryman was able to counter with a crisp body kick to stymie the attack. And before the horn sounded, Superbon capped off the stanza with a catch-and-dump.

With nobody holding a clear advantage, the bout was still up in the air heading into the third round.

In that final stanza, Superbon’s kicks continued to be a high point and found a home on Sitthichai’s body. The Sitsongpeenong Muay Thai Camp representative fired off a combination of his own, but his adversary’s counterpunching was sharp.

Although “Killer Kid” closed the third round with an uppercut, Superbon seemed to land the cleaner strikes throughout the contest.

The judges agreed, awarding the contest to Superbon, who improved his career record to a stunning 111-34.

The marquee victory at ONE: NO SURRENDER reaffirms Superbon’s status as the #2-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender in ONE’s Athlete Rankings.

Also, it moves him one step closer to a meeting with the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Champion and the division’s #1-ranked contender, Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan.
