Tawanchai To Face Jo Nattawut In Kickboxing Action At ONE Fight Night 15; Superbon Out With Injury
Superbon Singha Mawynn has been forced out of his ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Title challenge of Tawanchai PK Saenchai on Friday, October 6.
The all-Thai super fight was due to headline ONE Fight Night 15 on Prime Video in Bangkok, Thailand, but an injury to Superbon has put that matchup on hold until later in the year.
Tawanchai will still compete on the North American primetime card at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, although his belt won’t be on the line.
The featherweight Muay Thai king will instead continue his quest for two-sport gold and face all-action brawler Smokin’ Jo Nattawut in a featherweight kickboxing showdown.
As a result, ONE Fight Night 15 will now be headlined by the exciting ONE Interim Featherweight MMA World Title clash between former divisional king Thanh Le and rising star Ilya Freymanov.
Tawanchai looked incredible in his first ONE kickboxing bout back in August. Despite taking on a decorated veteran in Davit Kiria, the Bangkok-based fan favorite blasted through the tough Georgian.
The 24-year-old phenom ultimately finished the fight with a devastating third-round left kick that broke Kiria’s arm, showing just how powerful his strikes are, even if they’re blocked.
Now ranked #5 in ONE’s stacked featherweight kickboxing division, Tawanchai hopes to continue his rise with another highlight-reel finish.
However, Nattawut is an experienced competitor who has more recent kickboxing experience than Tawanchai.
Although he’s switched between Muay Thai and kickboxing in ONE, his appearances in the 2019 and 2021 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix tournaments saw him face the sport’s finest athletes – including current divisional king Chingiz Allazov and all-time great Giorgio Petrosyan.
Smokin’ Jo also holds impressive wins over the likes of Petchtanong Petchfergus and Cosmo Alexandre, so he’s no stranger to defeating elite rivals.
A victory for either man on October 6 would make a big statement.
Tawanchai would take a big step toward his dream of adding the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Championship to his trophy cabinet, while Nattawut would get back to winning ways against one of the promotion’s biggest stars.
