‘The Best Kickboxers In The World’ – Newly Crowned Featherweight King Chingiz Allazov Praises Superbon And Stacked Division
After scoring an unforgettable KO in the main event of ONE Fight Night 6: Superbon vs. Allazov on Prime Video, Chingiz Allazov now sits atop the most talent-rich division in combat sports.
On January 13 at the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, “Chinga” demolished Thai superstar Superbon Singha Mawynn to capture his ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title, capping an epic four-fight run that earned him both the sliver and gold belts.
By defeating Superbon, the Azerbaijani-Belarusian is now arguably the world’s top pound-for-pound kickboxer – an achievement that might not have seemed possible after Allazov lost his ONE debut by way of a disappointing split decision.
But with some encouraging words from his coach and a newfound focus, the 29-year-old knockout artist quickly turned things around on his way to the top of ONE’s featherweight kickboxing division.
Allazov said:
“My Coach told me, ‘Chingiz, you’re one of the best boxers [on] the planet, but [if] you don’t focus your mind, you’ll lose the second time. Please focus 100 percent, and trust me, and I will trust you, and we will go up and we will win this tournament.’”
Indeed, he would reel off three straight dominant performances to win the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix, defeating legendary Thai striker Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in the tournament final to earn his World Title shot against Superbon.
Allazov certainly made the most of that main event opportunity by knocking down the former champion three times in the second round, sending a terrifying message to the rest of the division.
After the fight, the Gridin Gym representative had nothing but praise and respect for the former champion:
“I have something to say to Superbon and his team. I want to say that I have big respect [for] this guy. He really is one of the best kickboxers [on] the planet. I’ve seen a lot of his fights, I have really big respect [for him]. I wish him the best and a speedy recovery. And yes, I knocked him out, but I wish him the best recovery, and I wish him all the best in life. Thank you for the fight, Superbon.”
Chingiz Allazov Says His Division Is Home To World’s Top Strikers
The newly crowned featherweight kickboxing king in Chingiz Allazov will face no shortage of dangerous challengers ahead.
One potential opponent is ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK.Saenchai. Allazov welcomes a World Title clash against the 23-year-old sensation, but only under kickboxing rules.
He said:
“Maybe Tawanchai wants to come to my weight and fight with me in kickboxing, no problem. Welcome! I like this. I said it before. But me going to Muay Thai is another situation.”
“Chinga” wants to stay in kickboxing for good reason. After all, his division is bursting at the seams with all-time greats and pound-for-pound killers.
According to the champion, ONE’s featherweight kickboxing roster is home to the planet’s top strikers, himself included.
Allazov said:
“[Giorgio] Petrosyan, [Marat] Grigorian, Sitthichai, Superbon, and me. All five of us are the best kickboxers in the world, pound-for-pound.”
Among that list of world-renowned knockout artists, Allazov believes that Sitthichai is the best overall – behind himself, of course. For that reason, he says that the fighter who defeats the Thai veteran next is due a shot at his throne.
He added:
“Whoever wins against Sitthichai should fight with me. Maybe it’s another person, but whoever they give me it’s not a problem.”
