‘The Best Year Of My Career’ – Seksan Thrilled To Earn 200th Professional Win In U.S. Primetime Debut

Seksan Or Kwanmuang Karim Bennoui ONE Fight Night 16 66

Seksan Or Kwanmuang delivered another stellar performance last Friday, November 3, to continue his phenomenal run in ONE Championship.

Despite facing a late replacement in Karim “The Surgeon” Bennoui at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video, the Thai legend extended his promotional record to 7-0 with a typically exciting unanimous decision victory.

Seksan blitzed Bennoui with a relentless barrage of elbows and knees in their 140-pound Muay Thai clash at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, though he admits it wasn’t easy to change his game plan after originally preparing for Colombian striker Johan Estupinan

He told onefc.com post-fight:

“Yes, it was a bit difficult for me to make adjustments because, as you know, it was a bit short notice. I watched some of his previous fights, and he seemed to be a very tough fighter.

“He was tough, and I’m happy I was able to win.”

Although Seksan is known as “The Man Who Yields To No One” for his never-back-down style, the debuting Bennoui raised his stock immensely due to an incredible showing of durability.

In fact, the Algerian gained a huge amount of respect from Seksan, who threw everything he had but was unable to score the knockout.

The Thai veteran said of Bennoui:

“Yes, [I was impressed]. I think he’s tough, he’s very strong, and he got struck by me so many times but he was still standing. I think he’s a very good fighter, and I think his heart is very big. I respect him.

“I was surprised [he didn’t go down]. He’s an incredible fighter, he got kneed, he got kicked, but he was still standing.”

Seksan: ‘I Would Love To Go Fight In The U.S.’

ONE Fight Night 16 on Prime Video was a special occasion for Seksan.

After posting a perfect 6-0 slate at the ONE Friday Fights event series in Asia primetime since the beginning of 2023, he got to showcase his style in U.S. primetime for the first time.

On top of that, the four-time Muay Thai World Champion earned professional victory number 200, and he’s ecstatic to hit that milestone in the world’s largest martial arts organization:

“I am very happy to be able to get the 200th win of my career here in ONE Championship. I’m very honored. This has been the best year of my career, and I would like to thank both the ONE Championship team and my team for supporting me.

“I would love to thank everyone who has always supported me, and I promise to always do my best and put on the best shows for you guys.”

As one of the standout performers of 2023, Seksan has garnered legions of new fans while adding another magical chapter to his iconic career.

“The Man Who Yields To No One” is somehow looking better than ever at 34 years old, and he wants to take his style to new places after only competing in Thailand throughout his ONE Championship tenure to date.

He added:

“I would love to go fight in the U.S. or other countries. That would be one of my dreams. But for the next opponent, I’m not sure. It’s up to ONE Championship. I can face anyone at 140 pounds.

“I would like to get a rematch with Sean Clancy, an opponent who I faced at ONE Friday Fights. He took an elbow and I got the TKO, but I feel like he still had enough energy to keep going. If possible I would like to fight him again.”
