‘This Is The Best Fight In Welterweight History’ – Zebaztian Kadestam Preparing For Epic Battle With Roberto Soldic
Like the rest of the global fan base, former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam is excited for his next battle on Friday, May 5.
That night, the hard-hitting Swede will go toe-to-toe with Croatian superstar Roberto Soldic in a welterweight clash at ONE Fight Night 10: Johnson vs. Moraes III on Prime Video, which marks the promotion’s first live event on U.S. soil.
Kadestam originally called out “Robocop” following his 57-second knockout victory over Iuri Lapicus at ONE Fight Night 1 last August, and he is thrilled to finally have the chance to throw down with the European striker at the 1stBank Center in Broomfield, Colorado.
He said:
“I got offered the fight a week ago, and I was really happy. It’s perfect timing. I have a lot of time to prepare. He’s a good opponent, so I’ll take him any time I can get him. I’m going to come prepared.”
ONE Fight Night 10 will be a historic night for the world’s largest martial arts organization, and the card represents the ambition the company is bringing to its inaugural event on American soil.
Kadestam is already a familiar name to MMA fans there, as he opened the U.S. primetime series with an unforgettable highlight-reel finish. And “The Bandit” promises to offer up just as much excitement when he arrives in the country and steps into the Circle on May 5.
The Swede said:
“I’ve never fought in America. I’ve never even been to America. This is going to be really cool. I’ve been wanting to go to America for a long time.
“I’ve been on the first Prime Video show, and now I’m on the first U.S. show. I’m happy that I get the opportunity to be on the bigger cards. I think my style suits well for entertainment if they match me well, and that’s what I’m about. It’s not only about winning, it’s about putting on a good show.”
Kadestam ‘Gets Chills’ At The Thought Of Showdown With Soldic
Former ONE Welterweight World Champion Zebaztian Kadestam has tasted sweet highs and bitter lows in his career, but now that he’s back on an upswing with two consecutive first-round knockout victories, “The Bandit” feels ready to rise to the top once more.
Two-division MMA Champion Roberto Soldic was the hottest free agent in the sport before he signed with ONE Championship last year, and with the fanfare the Croatian will bring to their welterweight tussle in Colorado, “The Bandit” believes this is the biggest opportunity of his career to date.
Kadestam said:
“It’s a name. Everybody knows him. He has all the hype, and I want it. I would fight anyone in the world, but this is a winning situation for me. I have a lot to take from this.
“I’ve been fighting for a long time, and I believe it’s time to get credit for what I’m doing.”
The Swedish slugger knows he is in for a tough battle when he stands across the Circle from Soldic at the 1stBank Center, but that’s why he’s so motivated.
With 29 knockouts among their 34 combined MMA victories, both men are capable of delivering a fight-ending blow at any moment. Kadestam expects an all-out war before the final shot lands – and it’s the fans who will reap the rewards when the two concussive strikers go toe-to-toe up until that point.
He said:
“This is the biggest and the best fight I could imagine. This is going to bring out the best from both of us. This is the best fight in welterweight history, for sure.
“This is going to be crazy, I promise you that. Man, if nobody is going to sleep in this one, I’ll be disappointed. I get chills when I think about it!”
