3 Reasons Chatri Sityodtong Makes An Outstanding ‘Apprentice’ Host
Many business professionals have tried to fill the role of Host on “The Apprentice,” however, none of them may be able to prune a group of global candidates quite like ONE Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
On “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition,” Chatri has constantly shown what makes him a sought-after leader that people around the world want to work under. Whether it’s his high standards in the boardroom or unwavering attention to detail, the ONE Chairman and CEO expects nothing but excellence.
Before Episode 7 hits the airwaves this Thursday at 8:50 p.m. on AXN, here are three reasons why Chatri is the most outstanding “Apprentice” Host to date.
#1 Visionary
The premise of “The Apprentice” is to find a well-suited candidate and make that individual Chatri’s Chief Of Staff, someone who will help the ONE Chairman and CEO with his decision making and project management – but that person will also have to be a visionary.
Who better than to pick the leading candidate than Chatri, himself a visionary entrepreneur?
Chatri left Wall Street at the peak of his career in finance and moved to Singapore, where he eventually started ONE Championship and built Asia’s largest global sports media property. Many of his peers thought he’d never make it, but he stayed the course, knowing his vision was possible.
#2 Tested Character
Chatri may be known for his skills in the boardroom, but the ONE Chairman and CEO also has skills in martial arts.
He used to train Muay Thai at the legendary Sityodtong Gym in Pattaya, Thailand – and he even competed in Muay Thai as recently as 2008, when he had his last professional bout in “the art of eight limbs.” To this day, Chatri regularly trains in Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a sport in which he holds a purple belt under Renzo Gracie.
Because of this, his character has been tested both physically and mentally, which fits perfectly into the theme of “The Apprentice: ONE Championship Edition.”
#3 Exemplifies His ‘PhD Factor’
Chatri has always said that resumes aren’t the only thing he looks at when hiring someone; he also looks at the candidate’s background. That is, does the person have what he calls the “PhD factor” – is he or she poor, hungry, and determined?
In 1997, the future ONE Chairman and CEO’s family was hit hard during the Asian Financial Crisis, and they experienced tremendous hardship. However, that forced Chatri to fight and claw his way to the top. He would earn a scholarship to Harvard, graduate with an MBA, pull his family out of poverty, and eventually start ONE Championship.
Having turned nothing into something extraordinary, Chatri can keenly sense which of the global candidates has that “PhD factor” as well.
